Reverse description A highly detailed full-color depiction of a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail butterfly (Papilio canadensis) rendered in naturalistic polychrome enamel, occupying the central field. The butterfly displays characteristic yellow and black striped wing patterning with blue and orange accent markings along the hindwing margin, and is shown resting upon a partially visible flower head at the right periphery. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper rim, with the date 2013 inscribed vertically along the left field and the denomination 50 CENTS along the lower periphery. The engraver's initials CG appear discretely in the lower right field.
