Obverse description The sixth and final effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Jody Clark, is depicted in right-facing profile, her head adorned with the King George IV State Diadem and the Victorian Coronation Necklace. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above, with AUSTRALIA and the date 2020 positioned below, followed by the engraver's initials JC in the lower field. The portrait presents a mature, refined likeness of the Queen rendered in a classical medallic style consistent with Commonwealth coinage of the period.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a standing Afghan Cameleer in traditional dress beside his camel, the pair rendered in fine relief against the coin's field, with a decorative floral and geometric border framing the upper and right portions of the dodecagonal flan. Below the central composition, a camel train of eight camels is shown in procession, evoking the historical role of Afghan cameleers in opening Australia's inland routes during the nineteenth century. The denomination 50 appears in the lower field, flanked by the inscription AFGHAN CAMELEERS, while the letters LA appear to the left, likely denoting a series identifier. The overall design is executed in a narrative, illustrative style befitting a commemorative issue.
