| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a stylised, linear figure of a netball player in a dynamic shooting pose, arms raised toward a netball ring positioned to the upper right of the field, rendered in a fluid, contemporary graphic style. To the lower left of centre appears the official Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games logo, featuring a stylised bird motif above the inscription MELBOURNE 2006. The legend XVIII COMMONWEALTH GAMES curves along the upper periphery, while the denomination numeral 50 is prominently placed at the lower right of the field. |

| Additional information |
The 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne were the first held in Australia since Brisbane 1982, and the Royal Australian Mint issued a twelve-coin circulation series to mark them — one of the largest commemorative programs the RAM had attached to a single sporting event. Netball warranted its own coin largely because Australia dominated the sport internationally, having won gold at every Commonwealth Games since netball's introduction to the program in 1998.
These circulated freely alongside standard issues, and finding examples without handling marks is genuinely difficult.
