Obverse description The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicting the monarch wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The portrait is rendered with fine detail in the hair and drapery, set against a deeply mirrored proof field. The circumscribed legend reads ELIZABETH II to the upper left and AUSTRALIA 2005 to the right, following the dodecagonal contour of the coin. The engraver's initials IRB appear in small relief below the truncation of the neck.
