Australia's pad-printed commemorative program, which the Perth Mint developed and refined through the 2000s and 2010s, applies ink directly onto the coin surface under pressure — a process borrowed from industrial product decoration that allows full-color imagery without the limitations of enamel inlay. The technique was novel enough in numismatic applications that early issues attracted collectors more for the process than the subject matter.
The "Season's Greetings" issues were produced as gift-market pieces, sold primarily through the Mint's retail and online channels rather than through conventional dealer networks.
