Reverse description The Coat of Arms of Tasmania occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into four quarters depicting symbols of Tasmanian industry: apples, a sheaf of wheat, a branch of hops, and a ram. The shield is supported on either side by a Thylacine (Tasmanian tiger), a species now extinct. Above the shield as crest stands a red lion with its dexter forepaw resting on a spade and pick-axe. The state motto UBERTAS ET FIDELITAS (Bounty and Loyalty) appears on a ribbon below the shield. Surrounding legends record CENTENARY OF FEDERATION 1901 2001, TASMANIA, and FIFTY CENTS.
