| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as sculpted by Susanna Blunt, depicting a mature right-facing bust of the Queen wearing a pearl necklace and pearl drop earrings, her hair styled in a characteristic upswept coiffure. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, framed by an inner beaded border. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed to the left of the effigy and D∙G∙REGINA to the right, both following the curvature of the coin. The engraver's initials SB appear truncated at the base of the bust. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays the fully colored Arms of Canada in vivid polychrome, centrally positioned within the coin's field. The quartered shield, supported by a crowned lion rampant or to the left and a crowned unicorn argent to the right, bears the heraldic elements of England, Scotland, Ireland, and France in the upper quarters, with three red maple leaves on a white field in the base. Above the shield, the crest features a crowned lion passant guardant holding a red maple leaf, flanked by the Union Flag and the Royal Banner of France on staffs adorned with maple leaves. Below the shield, a blue and gold ribbon bears the national motto A MARI USQUE AD MARE. The base is embellished with a garland of national floral emblems including the rose, thistle, shamrock, and trillium. The legend CANADA arcs along the left field, 50 CENTS along the right, and the date is divided across the upper field flanking the crest. |
