Reverse description The reverse features a central circular composition depicting Australian soldiers in a World War I trench scene, rendered in high relief with fine engraved detail. The figures, equipped with rifles and field gear, are shown actively engaged in combat or support duties, evoking the theme of resourcefulness under adversity. Poppy blooms, symbolic of remembrance, are prominent in the right field, while structural elements such as timber supports and wire appear in the background. The denomination numeral 50 is prominently placed at the top of the central circle, and the word RESOURCEFUL arcs boldly along the lower periphery.

Additional information

Part of the Royal Australian Mint's 2018 Anzac Spirit series, this issue belongs to a multi-year commemorative program running from 2014 to 2018 that explored individual qualities associated with Australian and New Zealand soldiers of the First World War. "Resourceful" references the well-documented improvisation of Gallipoli and Western Front troops — field-expedient periscope rifles, improvised bomb manufacture from jam tins, and jury-rigged supply solutions under sustained materiel shortages.

The series coincided with the centenary commemoration period, ending the year Australia's official WWI remembrance program concluded.
