Reverse description The full Canadian coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield displaying the arms of England, Scotland, Ireland, and France in the upper quarters, with a sprig of maple leaves on a green base in the base quarter. The shield is supported by a crowned lion rampant to the dexter and a unicorn to the sinister, each holding a lance bearing a banner — the Union Flag to the left and the fleurs-de-lis banner to the right. Above the shield rests a crowned lion passant on a wreath. A scroll below the shield bears the motto A MARI USQUE AD MARE in two lines. The date flanks the crown at top, with CANADA to the left and 50 CENTS to the right of the composition. A beaded border encircles the design.
