Reverse description Detailed depiction of the Colosseum in Rome, rendered in gold-plated relief against a red coloured field, occupying the lower two-thirds of the design with careful architectural detailing of the amphitheatre's arched facades and stone pavement. Radiating lines emanate from behind the structure, evoking imperial grandeur. To the upper right, a gladiatorial helmet flanked by two crossed swords appears in intaglio relief. A laurel wreath frames the inner border along both sides and the base, while the legend 'THE COLOSSEUM' arcs prominently along the upper portion of the coin within a beaded inner circle.

Additional information

The Solomon Islands has become one of the more prolific issuers of novelty legal tender since the 1990s, licensing its sovereign authority to European minting houses — primarily Polish and Czech operations — that produce collector pieces with no meaningful connection to the issuing territory. This coin is one such product.

Beyond noting the arrangement, there is little minting history worth adding here.
