Additional information

The Concorde programme ended in 2003 after Air France and British Airways cited rising maintenance costs following the July 2000 crash of Flight 4590 at Gonesse, which killed 113 people and effectively ended public confidence in the aircraft. Solomon Islands has no historical connection to supersonic aviation; these novelty issues are produced under licensing arrangements with overseas minting houses, with the island nation lending its issuing authority in exchange for a share of collector revenue.
