Reverse description Full-length frontal depiction of Archangel Michael rendered in gilt relief against a burnished gold background on the left half of the field. The archangel is portrayed in classical warrior attire, clad in ornate armour with large outstretched wings, bearing a cross-emblazoned shield in his right hand and a downward-pointing sword in his left. A radiant halo crowns his head. The right half of the field features a contrasting silver finish with an embossed sunflower motif, against which the vertical inscription 'ARCHANGEL MICHAEL' appears in bold gilt lettering.

Additional information

The Solomon Islands has been a prolific issuer of collector-oriented coinage since the 1970s, contracting much of its commemorative output through European minting houses — this piece almost certainly originates from a similar arrangement rather than domestic striking. Silver-plated iron is the signature substrate of budget bullion-adjacent issues, chosen to hit a retail price point while maintaining the visual appeal of silver without the material cost.
