Obverse description The obverse field features a full-color printed depiction of the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Redonda, centrally positioned, comprising a shield divided horizontally with seabirds on a blue ground in the lower half and a pale horizontal band in the upper half, surmounted by a royal crown with yellow stars at its base and encircled by an orange and gold bordure. The legend REDONDA arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering, while the denomination FIFTY CENTS curves along the lower periphery. The date is split to either side of the central arms, with 20 to the left and 18 to the right, both in blue. The entire design is applied as a colorized paper insert on a steel planchet with a reeded edge.

Reverse description The reverse field is entirely occupied by a full-color printed seascape depicting a large square-rigged sailing vessel under full sail, rendered in a painterly style. The ship is shown underway on a blue sea with whitecapped waves in the foreground, its multiple masts carrying billowing white sails against a partly cloudy sky. A second, smaller sailing vessel is faintly visible to the right of the main subject. No legends, inscriptions, or exergual text appear on this face. The design is applied as a colorized paper insert filling the entire inner field of the steel planchet.
