Reverse description A dynamic patriotic scene depicts five armed Eritrean liberation fighters planting the national flag atop a rocky promontory, closely inspired by the imagery of Eritrea's independence struggle of 1991. The flag, bearing a star, flies from a central pole held aloft by the grouped soldiers, some of whom are shown in active poses with rifles. The date '1991' — commemorating Eritrean liberation — appears prominently in the field to the left of the flagpole. The legend 'LIBERTY · EQUALITY · JUSTICE' arcs along the upper periphery.
