Obverse description Salmon-red note with an ornate border enclosing two tall Indochinese pagoda-style pillars flanking the central text panel, with denomination numerals '50' at lower left and right corners. The bank title 'BANQUE DE L'INDO-CHINE' is set at the top within a decorative guilloche frame, with the large denomination '50 CENTS' printed in bold intaglio at centre. Two serial numbers appear above and below the central vignette, with spaces for two manuscript signatures of bank officials at the foot of the design, attributed to the designer G. Fraipont.

Reverse description Salmon-red note with a bold central text panel framed by an intricate border of two confronted dragons in high relief, their bodies forming a continuous decorative surround with scalloped corners bearing the numeral '50'. The Banque de l'Indo-Chine monogram cipher appears in a circular cartouche at the top centre between the dragons' heads. The lower margin carries the printer's imprint, and the designer's signature 'G. Fraipont' appears at the lower left.
Reverse lettering DÉCRET DU 3 AVRIL 1901 Émission autorisée le 6 Octobre 1919. L'article 139 du Code pénal punit des travaux forcés à perpétuité ceux qui auront contrefait ou falsifié les Billets de Banques autorisées par la Loi, ainsi que ceux qui auront fait usage de ces Billets contrefaits ou falsifiés.
