Viso de los Pedroches is a small municipality in northern Córdoba province, and like hundreds of other Republican-held towns during the Civil War, it ran out of small change almost immediately after the July 1936 uprising disrupted normal monetary supply. The Consejo Municipal filled the gap with locally produced emergency scrip — these tiny card-stock pieces were never intended to circulate beyond the village itself, and the issuing authority had no formal banking infrastructure behind them whatsoever.

Survival rates for these hyperlocal Spanish Civil War emisiones are wildly uneven. Some towns produced thousands; others printed runs so small that fewer than a dozen examples are now known. The Gari Mon catalogue remains the primary reference, but its own listings acknowledge significant gaps in documentation for Córdoba provincial issues.
