El Viso de los Pedroches is a small municipality in the northern Sierra Morena reaches of Córdoba province, and this 50 céntimos note is a product of the acute small-change famine that paralyzed Republican-held towns across Spain from 1936 onward. With silver coinage hoarded and Republican peseta supply unreliable, hundreds of municipal councils — many of them tiny — issued their own emergency fractional paper under no formal central authorization. El Viso was one of them.
The absence of a Gari Morera catalog number suggests the piece was either unknown or unconfirmed at time of publication — a genuine rarity, or a late discovery.
