Soses is a small municipality in the Segrià comarca of Lleida, Catalonia. This note is one of thousands of small-denomination emergency issues — known as "moneda local" or "paper moneda" — produced by Catalan municipalities during the Spanish Civil War after the breakdown of normal currency supply in 1936. With metal coinage hoarded or melted, village councils printed their own scrip to keep local commerce moving.

The Turró catalog remains the definitive reference for these issues, and Soses entries are scarce enough that surviving examples attract disproportionate collector interest relative to their face value.
