| Obverse description | Printed in carmine on white paper, the note carries a vignette at the left centre presenting an allegorical war scene in which a woman and child cradle a lifeless body, a rifle at the side, while a Francoist aircraft bombs a town in the background. The municipal coat of arms of Riba-roja d'Ebre is positioned at the upper right, and a carmine-ruled perimeter frame encloses the entire design. Face value and issuing authority inscriptions appear in letterpress across the upper and lower registers. |

One of hundreds of local emergency notes — known as "paper de guerra" — issued by Catalan municipalities during the Spanish Civil War when Republican-zone villages found themselves without usable coin. Riba-roja d'Ebre sits on the Ebro roughly twenty kilometres upstream from Mora d'Ebre, which made Gràfiques Launes the obvious choice of printer; proximity was the whole point when central supply had broken down.
The Turró catalogue documents this issue as #2102, placing it well within the dense cluster of Ribera d'Ebre municipal emissions from 1937–38.
