Real de Montroy is a small municipality in Valencia province, and its wartime emergency scrip is among the more obscure local issues of the Spanish Civil War period. The Consejo Municipal — effectively the Republican town council operating under wartime authority — produced these céntimos notes to compensate for the chronic shortage of small coinage that plagued the Republican zone from 1936 onward. Hundreds of Spanish municipalities did the same, but output from villages this size rarely survived in quantity.
The Turró and Gari Mon references place this within the well-documented but rarely seen Valencian provincial issues. At 102 × 55 mm, it sits within the typical compact format for fractional Republican scrip of this type.
