Puebla de Don Fadrique is a small municipality in the province of Granada, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its ayuntamiento resorted to issuing emergency fractional scrip when Republican-zone coinage disappeared almost entirely from circulation after 1936. These local emissions were rarely sanctioned by any central authority — they were practical stopgaps, printed in tiny quantities with whatever materials were locally available.

The Gari Montané catalogue documents this piece as reference 1187-E, suggesting at least a small series of variants from this issuer. Provincial survival rates for such notes are unpredictable; many were redeemed and destroyed before the war's end, others simply disintegrated.
