Preixens is a tiny municipality in the Lleida comarca of La Segarra — its population in the 1930s numbered only a few hundred. That it issued its own emergency paper currency at all reflects the extraordinary fragmentation of the Republican monetary response to the Civil War, when hundreds of Catalan towns and villages produced local scrip after the July 1936 coinage collapse drained metallic currency from everyday commerce.

Printed by Imprenta A. Figueres in nearby Tàrrega, which handled emergency notes for several small municipalities in the region. The Turró catalog records only this single denomination for Preixens.
