Poble del Llierca is a tiny municipality in the Garrotxa comarca of Girona province — a village of a few hundred people issuing its own emergency paper money in the second year of the Civil War. These hyper-local Catalan wartime notes, collectively catalogued under the *bitllets de necessitat* framework, emerged because the Republican government's coin supply had collapsed almost entirely; people were hoarding metal, and small-change transactions had become genuinely impossible.

Imprenta C. Barnés of Palamós handled production for numerous Catalan municipal issues during this period, which means the printing quality here is more consistent than many village-level notes from the same emergency wave.
