Os de Balaguer is a small municipality in the Noguera comarca of Lleida, and like hundreds of Catalan and Aragonese towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency in 1937 after metallic coins vanished from circulation almost entirely. The Republican government had authorized local bodies to fill the gap, producing a patchwork of paper scrip that varied wildly in quality and design. Imprenta Unió Obrera — a workers' union print shop operating out of nearby Balaguer — handled several of these municipal commissions.

Turró catalogues this as #1726, which places it among the better-documented Lleida provincial emissions, though surviving examples remain genuinely scarce given the short circulation window and the chaos of the Nationalist advance into the region in early 1938.
