Orce is a small municipality in the Baza depression of Granada province. During the Spanish Civil War, dozens of Republican town councils — lacking access to adequate coinage after silver and copper hoarding crippled small-denomination circulation — issued their own emergency paper locally. These consejo municipal notes had no backing beyond the political authority of whichever Republican ayuntamiento printed them, and their acceptance was often limited to the issuing township itself.
The Gari Mon reference places this within the broader Catálogo de billetes locales españoles documentation of Civil War-era local issues, which remain genuinely difficult to attribute precisely because so many were produced on whatever printing resources the municipality had to hand.
