Oló is a tiny municipality in the Moianès comarca of Catalonia — population then as now in the hundreds. During the Civil War, the Republican zone's chronic shortage of small coinage prompted thousands of Spanish municipalities, however minor, to issue their own emergency paper fractional currency under a 1937 decree that legitimized local scrip. Grafos Col·lectivitzada, the Barcelona printer responsible here, was itself a collectivized enterprise operating under anarcho-syndicalist management after the July 1936 revolutionary upheaval.
Turró catalogs well over a thousand such municipal issues; Oló's entry at #1692 sits among the more obscure. Surviving examples from villages this small tend to be genuinely rare — production runs were proportional to local need, and most were redeemed or simply lost.
