Noguerones de Alcaudete is a small rural settlement in the municipality of Alcaudete, Jaén province. During the Spanish Civil War, hundreds of local entities — town councils, trade unions, cooperatives — issued their own emergency fractional currency when small-denomination coinage vanished from circulation entirely, hoarded or melted down almost immediately after July 1936. These locally produced pieces are collectively called "billetes locales" or "moneda de necesidad," and the Consejo Municipal here produced one of the more obscure examples in the Andalusian record.

The thick card stock was a practical choice — cheaper and faster than engraved paper, though far more vulnerable to wear and moisture. Surviving examples from villages of this size are genuinely rare simply because issue quantities were small and redemption, when it came, was often incomplete.
