| Obverse description | Printed entirely in violet on pale paper, the note is enclosed within a decorative border of scrolling wave ornaments with denomination numerals '50 CTS.' at each corner. Montcada i Reixac was a small industrial municipality north of Barcelona, and like hundreds of Catalan towns during the Civil War, its local government issued emergency paper fractional currency — guerra civil paper — when coinage effectively vanished from circulation in 1936–37. The Republican government had sanctioned these local issues out of necessity, not policy preference, and the Generalitat de Catalunya was simultaneously trying to impose order on a monetary situation that had already fragmented at the municipal level.
Turró catalogues this issue as #1561. Most Catalan municipal fractionals from this period suffered rapid destruction after the Nationalist victory in early 1939, which is the primary reason surviving examples are genuinely uncommon rather than simply scarce by collector perception.
