The Comunidad de Obreros Mineros de Mazarrón was a mining workers' cooperative in Murcia that issued fractional emergency currency — known in Spain as moneda de necesidad — almost certainly during the Civil War period of 1936–1939, when the breakdown of the Republican monetary supply chain left local organizations across Spain printing their own small-denomination scrip to keep wages and commerce moving. Mining communities in particular relied on these issues heavily, as payroll obligations continued regardless of what was happening to the national currency.
The stamp security feature on issues of this type was typically applied by hand at point of distribution, functioning as an authorization mark rather than an anti-counterfeiting measure in any modern sense.
