Lubrín is a small hill village in Almería province, and like hundreds of Spanish municipalities, it issued emergency small-change notes during the Civil War after metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation in 1936. These local emissions — called *moneda local* or *billete de necesidad* — were produced under Republican authority but with no central design standard, which is why quality varies so wildly from one town to the next. Lubrín's issue is among the more obscure Almería examples in the Gari census.
The validation stamp is the only security feature, typical for municipal emissions where the stamp itself — not the paper — carried legal standing.
