| Obverse description | Black letterpress text on plain paper within a simple ruled border, with a vignette of wheat ears at right and a factory with smoking chimneys at left, evoking the agricultural and industrial character of the municipality. The face is predominantly textual in layout, with the denomination and issuing authority rendered in bold Gothic lettering. The overall composition is austere, consistent with wartime emergency issue production. |

| Reverse description | Warm brown-orange underprint covers the entire field, overlaid with bold black letterpress text arranged along diagonal axes framing a central heraldic vignette. The municipal coat of arms — a vertically striped shield surmounted by four five-pointed stars and flanked by ornate acanthus-leaf scrollwork — occupies the centre. Serial number and series designation appear in two triangular white cut-corner panels at upper right and lower left. |

Les Planes d'Hostoles is a small municipality in the Garrotxa comarca of Catalonia, and like hundreds of other Catalan and Spanish Republican towns it issued its own fractional paper money during the Civil War after the collapse of small-change supply in 1936–37. These locally printed emergency notes — generally called "moneda local" or "bitllets de necessitat" — were authorized under the Generalitat de Catalunya's decree of September 1936, which gave municipalities the right to issue fractional currency up to 2.50 pesetas per head of population.
Turró's catalog remains the primary reference for these issues; #1870 places this note within a well-documented but thinly surviving group from a commune whose total wartime population was well under a thousand.
