La Selva del Camp is a small municipality in the Camp de Tarragona region, and like hundreds of Catalan and Valencian towns during the Civil War, its ajuntament issued emergency fractional currency in 1937 when the Republic's coinage supply collapsed almost entirely. These local paper issues — collectively catalogued under the broader *bitllets locals* phenomenon — were authorized under the Generalitat de Catalunya's emergency monetary decrees and were valid only within the issuing municipality's limits.

Turró 2315 places this among the documented but genuinely scarce provincial emissions. Survival rates for these small-town issues are low; many were redeemed and pulped, and wartime disruption meant some series were never fully distributed at all.
