| Reverse description | Printed entirely in red on cream paper, the reverse is composed of an elaborate guilloche underprint of interlocking diamond and crosshatch patterns filling the entire field within a scalloped rectangular border. A large central oval guilloche medallion carries the denomination '50 CÈNTIMS' in bold numerals, with the issuing authority name arranged in large curved lettering arching above and below the medallion. The printer's imprint appears in small text along the lower margin, and a serial number is struck at centre bottom. |

La Roca del Vallès was one of hundreds of Catalan municipalities that issued their own fractional currency during 1936–37, when the Republic's small-change crisis — caused partly by hoarding and partly by the disruption of normal banking — left everyday commerce nearly paralyzed. The Generalitat eventually tried to impose order on this flood of local paper, but by 1937 notes like this were already circulating alongside Republican treasury issues, CNT tokens, and collectivized-enterprise vouchers in a genuinely chaotic monetary environment.
