Gor is a village in the Granada province with a population that barely reached a few hundred during the 1930s. That such a small municipality issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War is unremarkable in itself — hundreds of Spanish towns did the same when Republican-zone coinage disappeared from circulation after 1936 — but the logistics of commissioning a printer in Elche, nearly 400 kilometers away on the Mediterranean coast, suggest local printing options were either unavailable or deemed inadequate.
La Gráfica of Elche handled a significant volume of these Republican-era local issues, serving municipalities well outside its immediate region.
