Caudete is a small municipality in Albacete province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally printed emergency fractional currency during the Civil War after metallic coin disappeared from circulation almost entirely by late 1936. These municipal issues — often called "billetes locales" or simply "cartones" — were produced with whatever printing resources the town had at hand, which in most cases meant rudimentary equipment and no security features whatsoever.
The Gari Mon reference places this firmly within the documented Albacete regional issues, but survival rates for Caudete notes are uneven — small-town runs were typically tiny, and post-war destruction of Republican-era paper was deliberate and thorough.
