Bullas is a small municipality in the Murcia region of southeastern Spain, and like hundreds of other Spanish towns it resorted to issuing its own emergency paper fractional currency during the Civil War after the Republic's coinage effectively vanished from circulation in 1936–37. These local emergency issues — known collectively as "moneda local de necesidad" — were produced by municipal councils operating under wartime resource constraints, typically on whatever printing equipment and paper stock was locally available.
Gari Montllor's catalog remains the definitive reference for these Republican-zone municipal issues, and the 372-B designation implies at least one variant exists within the Bullas 50 céntimos series.
