Bonete is a small municipality in Albacete province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency when Republican-zone coinage vanished from circulation almost entirely in 1936–37. These municipal notes — locally called moneda local or vale — were produced under no central authorization scheme, often by whatever printer or even hand-stamp was available in the village. Denominations below one peseta were the most urgently needed, since coins of that range had been hoarded or melted almost immediately after July 1936.
The Gari Molina catalog remains the authoritative reference for these Civil War municipal issues, and the 353-B suffix suggests at least a second recognized variety for this denomination — likely a printing or paper difference from 353-A.
