The Consejo Municipal de Blázquez was one of hundreds of small Spanish municipal bodies that issued emergency paper fractional currency during the Civil War, when Republican-zone towns faced an acute shortage of metallic coin after silver and copper were hoarded or melted. These tiny notes — circulating purely on local trust — were often hand-stamped, rubber-printed, or produced on whatever stock the ayuntamiento could source. Many issues from villages of this size in Córdoba province had print runs in the low hundreds.
