Benalúa de Guadix is a small municipality in Granada province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns it resorted to locally produced emergency scrip during the Civil War after the Republic's small-denomination coinage effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply absent in rural areas. These consejo municipal issues were authorised under a framework that gave local governing councils latitude to print their own fractional currency, and the results varied enormously in material quality and official rigour.
The Garicano Moll catalogue reference (276-B) suggests at least a second variant exists for this denomination, pointing to more than one emission or printing run — worth confirming against the stamp type before attributing.
