Begudà is a tiny municipality in the Garrotxa comarca of Girona province, and like hundreds of Catalan and Spanish towns during 1936–37, its local council was forced into issuing fractional emergency currency after the hoarding of metal coinage paralysed everyday commerce in the wake of the July 1936 uprising. The Consell Municipal — by then operating under anarchist or left-republican administration depending on the week — had no banking infrastructure of its own, so it contracted Imprenta C. Barnés in Palamós, a coastal printing house that fulfilled a remarkable number of these small-town Catalan wartime commissions.

Turró 337 is among the scarcer municipal emissions from the comarca, reflecting the town's very small population and correspondingly limited print run.
