Argamasilla de Alba is a small town in Ciudad Real province best known, with some irony, as the setting where Cervantes is said to have conceived Don Quixote — possibly while imprisoned there. In 1937, with the Republican zone fragmenting into hundreds of autonomous monetary experiments, the local Consejo Municipal issued its own emergency fractional currency simply because coins had vanished entirely from circulation, hoarded or melted almost universally across the war zone.
The Gari Mon 185-B designation implies at least one variant, likely a signature or paper difference. Luis Madrigal's title as El Presidente and Epifanio Rubio's as El Depositario reflect the stripped-down municipal treasury structure typical of Republican-held small towns in La Mancha during this period.
