Aras de Alpuente is a small municipality in Valencia's interior, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency fractional currency when the Republic's coinage supply collapsed in 1936–37. These municipal notes — collectively catalogued under the *Guerra Civil* emergency issues — were produced locally, often on whatever card stock was at hand, with no central oversight of design or quality. The Consejo Municipal had no printing infrastructure, which shows.

The Gari Mon reference places this among the rarer Valencia provincial issues. Aras de Alpuente had a population of a few hundred; survival rates for its emissions are correspondingly low.
