Albalate de las Nogueras — the village was briefly renamed Albalate Luchador during the Civil War, the suffix a declaration of Republican allegiance. Like hundreds of Castilian and Aragonese municipalities in 1937, the local council issued its own fractional scrip to plug a catastrophic shortage of small-denomination coinage, which had been hoarded, melted, or simply swallowed by wartime disruption. These emergency municipales were technically illegal under Republican monetary regulations but tolerated out of necessity.
The Gari Montaner catalog classifies this as variant B, indicating at least two stamp or text variants exist for the issue — a common complication with hand-stamped village scrip of this period.
