Albalate de Cinca is a small municipality in the Huesca province of Aragon, and like hundreds of comparable Spanish towns, it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War after the Republic's coinage effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply unavailable in rural areas by mid-1936. These local emissions, collectively known as "billetes de necesidad," were produced with whatever printing resources the municipality had on hand, which for a village of this size typically meant a local press or even hand-stamped card. Collector survivorship is erratic.
