One of hundreds of locally issued emergency notes — moneda de paper — that flooded Catalonia during the Civil War years after the collapse of small-denomination coinage in circulation. The Ajuntament d'Alba del Vallès, a small municipality in the Vallès Oriental comarca, issued this note under the broad Republican authority that allowed town councils to produce fractional currency to keep local commerce functioning. Turró catalogued the series, which gives it traceable identity, but the printing and paper quality across these municipal issues varied enormously.

The control stamp is the only security measure — characteristic of the lesser-resourced ayuntamientos.
