| Obverse description | The iconic 'La Semeuse' (the Sower) allegory, designed by Louis-Oscar Roty, depicts a striding female figure in flowing robes and bare feet, scattering seeds from a sack held in her left hand against a rising sun whose radiating rays fill the left field. A horizontal ground line bisects the composition, below which the figure's wind-swept drapery trails dramatically. The encircling legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE runs along the periphery, interrupted at the base by the figure's feet. |
