Morocco's protectorate-era fractional silver was struck in Paris under the broader monetary reorganization that followed France's formal financial administration of the country after 1912. Muhammad VI — known in French diplomatic records as Moulay Youssef — was sultan in name while policy, including coinage decisions, ran through the Résidence générale in Rabat. The Lec#178 attribution places this firmly within Lecompte's cataloguing of Moroccan issues, where minor die variations across the 1923–1928 run have been documented but carry little premium.
