Reverse description Central shield bearing the arms of the Congo Free State — divided horizontally, with horizontal lines in the upper field charged with a five-pointed star to the left, and a rampant lion in the lower field — surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by symmetrical sprays of palm fronds, their stems crossing at the base. The denomination 50 CENTIMES arcs along the upper periphery, while the date appears in the exergue at the bottom. The design is enclosed within a beaded border.
