| Obverse description | Plain paper note with a green guilloche diamond-pattern border framing the entire face. The issuer name COMMUNE DE CORNIMONT is printed in large bold black letterpress at the top, followed by the deliberation date in italic script and the series and serial number on the same line. The denomination CINQUANTE CENTIMES appears in large red letters within a narrow ornamental guilloche band at centre, with redemption text and the facsimile signature of Mayor Albert Valdenaire occupying the lower portion; a circular red municipal cachet is applied at upper centre, and the printer's imprint appears at lower right. |

Cornimont is a small textile-manufacturing commune in the Vosges, and by 1915 the German occupation of northern and eastern France had severed normal banking channels entirely. Hundreds of French municipalities issued their own emergency fractional notes that year, but most relied on printers in unoccupied zones. Cornimont printed its own locally, at Girompaire — a detail that places the commune inside or on the edge of the disrupted zone, scrambling to maintain basic commercial exchange with whatever press was available.
The watermark is unusual for a note of this scale and origin; most comparable municipal issues of 1915 skipped security features altogether.
