| Obverse description | Printed in green on cream paper, the obverse is framed by a crenellated architectural border with pilasters at each corner. At left stands a full-length figure of Marshal Joffre in military uniform (labelled "JOFFRE 1914"), while at right stands a armoured figure of Charles Martel (labelled "CH. MARTEL 732"), each set within a columned niche.
